Catechism in a Year Study Group
Tuesdays, 7-8:30pm
Library in the Activity Center

Join us by listening to Father Mike Schmitz's "Catechism in a Year" Podcast or YouTube Channel.  We follow the Official 365 Day reading plan from Ascension Press.  You can get your reading plan at ascensionpress.com/ciy.

I once heard it said that, "as Catholics we are taught how to say our prayers, but not how to pray."

Relationship is the key to prayer, but we often don't seek a relationship with God.  We are also very good at prayer excuses to disqualify ourselves from prayer.  Part Four on "How We Pray" breaks down our prayer barriers and gives us greater understanding on how wonderful and intimate prayer can be for all of us, not just for the saints.  That being said, the Catechism does not sugar coat the real effort that prayer requires, and how it is a self gift of ourselves to Our Lord.
"Prayer presupposes an effort, a fight against ourselves."  --CCC 2752

"Humility is the foundation of prayer.  Only when we humbly acknowledge that 'we do not know how to pray as we ought,' are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer."  ---CCC 2559

Please come even if you did not listen to first Three Parts, you will not be lost.  Each part is its own awesome part to learn about our faith.
