SACRAMENT PREPARATION
Reconciliation and Eucharist
We are so blessed to work with families as they prepare their children for these Sacraments! Our program consists of two years of preparation. While these two years most usually coincide with grades one and two in school, the program is essentially ungraded. Parents should contact us when they feel their child is ready - anywhere between kindergarten and fifth grade.
In the first year the focus is on the Holy Trinity with lessons on God the Father, the life of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, God's plan of salvation and our part in that plan. Children become acquainted with Mary, angels, and the saints and learn basic prayers.
In the second year the goal is to prepare children for first reception of the sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion.
PARENTS AND CHILDREN TOGETHER One gift of 2020 was that we developed an integrated program for both parents and children to attend together. We found that not only did parents discover that they were learning along with their children (though on a deeper level), the children recognized through a parents’ presence the importance of the sacraments to their family, as well as to themselves.
